The normally stylish Liam was drawn into immediate exchanges by his stockier opponent, Jamie Grey from Attleborough ABC, and this set the pattern for the rest of the contest. Both lads swung powerful hooks at will as they exchanged punches for the duration of the opening round. The strong Attleborough man’s straight shots in between exchanges edged him in front.

Round 2 followed the same frantic pace and the crowd were firmly behind both boxers by now as they thrilled and spilled their way through the round. The last round proved another barnstormer as each gave and took shots to head and body that would have finished less determined opponents. Tiredness was proving a major factor but the crowd again spurred them on and they continued to exchange big shots through to the bell. Referee Mr Steve Snagg congratulated both boxers for providing such a contest in their debuts, but it was the busier and slightly more accurate Grey whose hand was raised at the end. Both boys can be proud of their efforts, and with the debut experience behind him Liam can go on to looking forward to a tidier performance next time out!
