As the new season gets underway, CABC has appointed a new Club Captain - Dom McGurl !
Dom gained so valueable experience last season and is keen to make his mark with some ring success this time round. His maturity and manner made him a natural successor to Billy Smart who unfortunately has had to step away from the sport due to work commitments.
The coaches and committee wish Dom the best of luck leading the team in the coming campaign !

good luck guys for the forth coming season, i'm sure you will all do really well, i'm really gutted i won't be joining you on this years shows but who knows what the future will hold and hopefully i'll be fighting for my place back on the team in the near future. anyway i bet there is less chit chat now i'm not in the gym. once again good luck and i'll see you all soon.

Cheers Bill. The gym is quieter without you mate, probably not a bad thing as the lads are getting on with their training and getting fitter than ever!! :)
Hope the job is going well... I'm sure we'll see you down the gym soon.

your proberly thinking who is ginger........well i was with the club from 1974 to 1989 and i boxed as a 16 year old to 20,then i took up coaching along side.derek rulten,simon chambers,bob lodge,mervyn fairweather.send my best wishes to carl barton who i knew as a schoolboy,junior.
in my day we did not have captains.but have a good season and let me know when yr shows are.we used to have shows at .the embassy suite,woods lesuire club.and i was always put on last....what a bummer.how is bob,he was always in my corner...a really nice fella and coach,trainer.say hi for me.

No problems remembering you mate. Hope you are well. i always envied the fact you could walk round corner to gym in Kendal Road LOL .
This stream of bloggs are mine mate and i try to keep site fresh with snippets and photos!
Bob no longer involved with club but still in touch with Dave Edwards and attended our last show at tail end of last season. Simon and Derek still at Castle club, and i saw Merv a year or so ago and he was fit and well and still teaching Ju Jitsu.

thanx 4 the email...and i am flattered that u still remember me....in 2005 i had a kidney transplant and all is well.still working as a painter/decorator....kendell road...they were the days.....
