CABC junior Jamie Cook was in action again on Saturday night at the combined Brentwood & Alma open show at Hutton. Jamie was matched with D.Erk from Alma in what proved to be an exciting 2nd bout for both boys and one of very high standard. Jamie started very well and his boxing soon had him edging a lead as he moved and punched sharpley whilst preventing Erk to get in range. It wasn't until late in the round that the stockier Alma boxer got close enough to unload in what should have proved a warning for what was to come. He started the second round at a much higher tempo and the Colchester boxer was struggling to retain the upper hand. Erk's concerted effort enabled him to score some heavy shots that forced him back into reckoning before the last round. There was everything to play for in the final round as jamie tried desperately to get back to his long range boxing. He showed moments of fine skill but it wasn't quite enoughas Erk scored that little more consistantly. The Alma boxer it was who received the decision but both earned the congratulations of the referee and can both take a lot of heart away from this bout. Jamie should be continueing his busy schedule soon and that elusive decision can't surely be far away as he improves noticably week by week! Read more about Jamie on our "Boxer of the Month" page!
