Experienced junior, Joey Avenell (15yrs) sought revenge against barkings George Penny, having lost to him back in december. Avenell had an industrious first round, but struggled to find the target. This would change in the 2nd, as Avenell settled and caught Penny with useful counter punches. The taller Penny tried to close the gap in the last, however Avenell would not be denied as he continued to beaver away. A close majority points win, saw Avenell home.
Middleweight junior, George Potter, looked to keep his unbeaten record in tact in his 2nd ever bout, this time against Waltham Forests George Hardy. Potter used his height and reach advantage to good effect in the first exploding heavy hooks against Hardy towards the end of the round to force an 8 count. in the second, Potter threw stinging shots from distance, which proved too much, as the refferee wisely stopped the contest in the Harwich boxers favour.
It was a case of going over old ground for 2 other harwich abc unbeaten junior boxers. James Osbourne struggled at times, with a weight disadvantage causing him problems, however he prevailed and scored a repeat points win in this his 5th bout overall, over the game Liam Giles of Castle ABC. Osbournes acurate counter punching and good last round saw him to victory. likewise, junior Billy Cannon, in this his 3rd bout, also scored a repeat win of his debut contest, against Centurions ABC B. Kenway. Billy pulled away mid way through the second round to score a unanimous points win.
The task of opening the show, came to Danny Gunn who faced R. Dunne from Sandy ABC. Danny forced the pace throughout the bout and finilised the decision, by forcing a standing 8 count in the final round, following a well delivered salvo of hooks. Danny would receive a unanimous points win, to score his 3rd win of the season.
Bradley Bocking struggled to find his range, as he dropped a split points decision to fellow junior, A. Ward of islington.
